"HOW REALITY TV

IS IMPACTING" 

The first reality show, "Real World", appeared on MTV in 1988. The couples getting married today have never known a life without reality TV! This presentation will talk about the different reality TV shows out there and, based on surveys taken by real brides and wedding vendors, how it is impacting buying decisions and setting expectations for your services. Also hear the perspectives from wedding vendors that have participated in reality televisions and how to keep your business looking positive dispite a producer's agenda that doesn't include yours if you are on one.

Kathy Piech-Lukas is president of Your Dream Day LLC, and has been a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants since 2005. Your Dream Day, which plans 25 to 30 events per year, was named in "The Knot Best of Weddings" in 2007 and 2011; and selected as a "Bride's Choice" by Wedding Wire for three consecutive years (2009, 2010 and 2011.) Her wedding planning expertise have been featured all over the TV news. magazines, online and in newpapers. 

Kathy has served on the planning board for the bridal charity events 'A Dress to Remember,' (benefiting dresses that heal) and 'Got Wedding Stuff' (benefiting the Lupus Foundation.). Kathy served as the co-coordinator of the Cincinnati Affiliate of the Association of Bridal Consultants for six years, is one of the founders of the Dayton Bridal Connection, and is currently starting a networking group for planners and vendors in Cleveland. Prior to starting Your Dream Day LLC, she managed international marketing communications campaigns, exhibitions and public relations initiatives for the composites division at Owens Corning, served as public affairs manager for Sprint in Southwest Ohio, and worked on PR and marketing campaigns for many high end companies.  She has been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past 10 years. Kathy is a 1998 cum laude graduate of Xavier University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Communications / PR and minor in Marketing. She is currently packing and selling her house in Franklin, Ohio, so she can move to Brunswick, Ohio, to be with her husband Jim and their cat Sofia.
